PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge which permits the replacement of an ink tank portion without discarding a storage means such as an IC chip in replacing the ink cartridge, the reduction of the amount of waste, the disposal of the waste as ordinary waste and the visual recognition of the remaining quantities of ink. SOLUTION: The ink cartridge is composed of a housing 1 having an information storage means 15 such as IC chips suitable for a carriage of an inkjet recording device, an ink tank 20 removably stored in the housing 1 and a lid body 40 to block the top face opening of the housing 1. One side wall of the ink tank 20 is made of a transparent synthetic resin film 25 and permits the visual recognition of the remaining quantity of the ink. A pair of guiding ridges 3 and 4 are provided on the insides of a pair of facing sidewalls of the housing 1 along the height directions and projections 22 and 23 fitting into between the ridges 3 and 4 are provided on the outsides of corresponding sidewalls of the ink tank 20.
