PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boring method and a boring device for a boring machine having excellent responsiveness and combining the improvement of control accuracy and the increase of boring speed in a shield method. SOLUTION: In the boring method for the boring machine 1 in the shield method of excavating sediment by a cutter drum 2 at the front part of the boring machine 1 while supplying muddy water A, and discharging a mixed fluid B of the sediment and muddy water A to the outside of a pit, the turbidity of the muddy water A supplied to the boring machine 1 and that of the mixed fluid B are detected by turbidmeters 11, 12, and the flow rates are detected by pumps 9, 10. The amount of suspended matter included in the muddy water A and the amount of suspended matter included in the mixed fluid B are computed from the detected results, and the amount of excavated sediment is computed from the difference between the computed amounts of suspended matter. The actual excavated amount of the natural ground X is computed from the computed amount of excavated sediment and the component ratio of the natural ground X, and the boring amount of the boring machine 1 is set from the computed actual excavated amount.
