Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a transistor with excellent carrier mobility wherein an active layer having an orientation can be formed by a simple process. Specifically disclosed is a method for manufacturing a transistor having an active layer composed of a semiconductor film containing an organic semiconductor compound. This method comprises a step for stretching a semiconductor film, and a step for obtaining an active layer by bonding the semiconductor film to a surface on which an active layer is to be formed while heating and/or pressurizing the semiconductor film.
