The aid has vehicle stairs (16, 16.1) provided in an entrance area (2) of a motor vehicle and comprising stationary steps (14) attached to adjustable steps (14.1) or formed from steps adjustable from one level (7) to another level (8), where the steps (14.1) are adjustable horizontally or vertically and commonly in a plane. The steps (14.1) are adjustable by a lifting equipment that is controlled by a controlling device in such a manner that an activation of the equipment takes place during entering of the steps (14.1), where the equipment has a pneumatic, hydraulic or electrical adjusting device.
