<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the degree of freedom of operations and to operate operation switches provided on both upper and lower surfaces even in a holding state since a housing can be held with one hand. <P>SOLUTION: The operating device 10 for games includes a longitudinal housing 12, and a holding part 18 to be held so as to be wrapped by the palm is formed on the housing. A direction switch 26 is provided on a position at which it can be operated with the thumb of the hand holding the holding part on an upper surface 20, and a start switch 30 and a select switch 32 are provided more on the rear part than that.
