PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging an antipyretic-analgesic to be useful in case of a high fever caused by infection with various viruses, including an influenza virus, infection with bacteria, and infection with other pathogens, and to provide a method for screening the safe antipyretic-analgesic. SOLUTION: This method comprises bringing vascular endothelial cells into contact with the antipyretic-analgesic or its candidate pharmaceutical before, after, or when the cells are infected with the viruses in vitro, or administering the antipyretic-analgesic or the candidate pharmaceutical to a nonhuman animal before, after, or when the animal is infected with the viruses, then (1) measuring an extent of proliferation of the viruses in the vascular endothelial cells, (2) measuring an extent of exaltation of permeability of a blood vessel in the vascular endothelial cells, or (3) measuring an expression level of a protein composing tight junction between the vascular endothelial cells in a blood-brain barrier, and further evaluating the antipyretic-analgesic or the candidate pharmaceutical by comparing a result of the measurement with a result measured by not adding the antipyretic-analgesic or the candidate pharmaceutical thereto.
