An image processing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to determine output information which is output for each of regions included in a document image on the basis of information on a destination of the document image, attributes of the respective regions and user authority information. An image processing method includes a step of acquiring information on a destination of a document image stored in a memory(S502), a step of determining types of output information to be output for regions in the document image on the basis of the information on the destination and attributes of the regions(S503), a step of acquiring output information of the types for the respective region, a step of combining the output information acquired for the respective regions as a document image(S511), and a step of outputting the combined document image to the destination(S515).
