A feeding apparatus wherein a carrying tape (1) accommodating components (5) is fed along a guide (2) and a cover tape (1b) is peeled off before a component feeding position (30), whereby a component (5) is fed, the apparatus having: a shutter (35) which covers the carrying tape at the feeding position and is movable to open the feeding position, the shutter having a slit (36) through which the cover tape is drawn; and peeling-off and taking-up means for pulling the cover tape to peel off and wind up the cover tape, €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ
wherein, with respect to the slit, a distance between a top surface of the guide and the shutter on one side of the feeding position is smaller substantially by the thickness of the cover tape than a distance between that top surface and the shutter at a portion on the opposite side of the component feeding position.
