<p>A water desilicating apparatus with reverse osmosis membrane, comprising (A)raw water tank; (B) means for adjusting the pH value of raw water; (C) reverse osmosismembrane unit; (D) means for adjusting the pH value of reverse osmosis membraneconcentrate water; (E) desilicating means packed with a porous silica containingremoving agent; and (F) means for returning any runoff water from the desilicatingmeans to the raw water tank. Further, there is provided a method of water desilicating,comprising adjusting the pH value of raw water so as to fall within the range of2 to 7; feeding the raw water to a reverse osmosis membrane unit so as to separatethe same into reverse osmosis membrane permeate water and reverse osmosis membraneconcentrate water; adjusting the pH value of reverse osmosis membrane concentratewater so as to fall within the range of 6.5 to 9; passing the concentrate water throughdesilicating means packed with a porous silica containing removing agent; andreturning any runoff water from the desilicating means to a raw water tank. Byvirtue of this simple apparatus, silica can be removed from the reverse osmosismembrane concentrate water to saturation concentration, so that anyoccurrence of silica scale in reverse osmosis membrane concentrate water loopcan be effectively prevented. Consequently, the whole amount of raw water canbe recovered as the reverse osmosis membrane permeate water.</p> |
