The head has a function position (23) to which a gripper (18) moves in succession with rotation of rotor to implement an operational sequence. The position lies with respect to a rotational axis. The gripper forms two groups separated by free supports. The grippers are arranged within each group at directly adjacent supports, so that pairs consisting of grippers of both groups facing with respect to the axis are provided at the rotor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a setting up procedure for assembly head for assembling electrical components on a substrate; and (b) an assembly procedure for an assembly system with an assembly head.
