A column of a surface grinding machine is provided to prevent a column from being bent by allowing a reinforcing rib and a sub rib to absorb the weight of a grinding charcoal stone and a spindle applied to the column as a bending force. In a column(50) of a surface grinding machine, a spindle housing equipped with a rotatable grinding charcoal stone is installed to move up and down. A guide block guiding the spindle housing is installed on an inner projection unit(50b). A plurality of reinforcing ribs(100) is formed on the inner side of the column of the rear inner projection unit. The reinforcing rib includes a hollow circular rib(110) protruded on the inner side of the column and a plurality of straight ribs(120) protruded from the circular rib toward the other circular rib adjacent to the inner circumference of the column. A plurality of sub ribs(200) protruded on the inner circumference of the column of the front inner projection unit connects the inner projection unit with a front bock unit(50a). A connection rib(130) formed between the reinforcing ribs connects the inner projection unit of the column with a rear block unit(50c). |
