Compositions comprise a homopolymer of vinyl chloride or vinylidene chloride or a copolymer thereof with a minor proportion of an unsaturated copolymerizable compound, having a molecular weight of not less than 10,000, and 10 to 30% by weight of the composition of colloidal silica and/or colloidal alumina having a particle size of 1 to 100 millimicrons. Specified copolymers are copolymers of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate and acrylonitrile, and of vinylidene chloride with vinyl acetate, methyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, and vinyl chloride and methyl acrylate. The compositions may be used for making filaments and films, e.g. by spinning solutions in organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran.
