PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respectively obtain a usual image having high image quality and sufficient color reproducibility, an NBI image and an autofluorescent observation image. SOLUTION: A first CCD 12A having a first color filter 13A and a second color filter 13B respectively arranged thereto and a second CCD 12B are provided at the leading end part 10B of a videoscope 10. Then, light with a wavelength of 500 nm or below is guided to the first CCD 12A by a dichroic prism 20 and second light with a wavelength of above 500 nm is guided to the second CCD 12B. In the case of a usual observation mode, an observation region is irradiated with the white light from a lamp 32 and a full color usual image signal is formed in a usual image processing circuit 40 on the basis of the image signals read from the first CCD 12A and the second CCD 12B. In a special observation mode, the observation region is irradiated with exciting light by a blue filter 48 to form an NBI image signal on the basis of the image signal read from the first CCD 12A and the autofluorescent observation image is formed on the basis of the image signal read from the second CCD 12B.
