PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device in which an alignment layer is processed in a contactless system under atmospheric pressure. SOLUTION: A vertical alignment layer is formed on a substrate where a transparent electrode is formed, a plasma gas having a first injection condition is injected onto a first area of the vertical alignment layer under the atmospheric pressure, and the plasma gas having a second injection condition is injected onto a second area of the vertical alignment layer under the atmospheric pressure. The injection condition means the number of particles of plasma gas injected per unit area, total injection duration, injection direction, injection velocity of the plasma gas, or the like. The alignment of liquid crystal molecules may be varied depending on areas in one liquid crystal display device through the variations of such injection conditions. The method can form the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules through the injection of plasma gas under the atmospheric pressure and ordinary temperature in the contactless system.
