PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load at the time of starting movement of a steering shaft capable of moving in a lateral direction of a vehicle according to steering operation, and to improve operation feeling at the time of starting steering operation. SOLUTION: The steering device comprises the steering shaft 3, a housing 4 storing the steering shaft 3, a bush 5 externally fitted with the steering shaft 3 and internally fitted in the housing 4 so as to move in an axial length direction, a regulating ring 6 and a first step portion 4b regulating the amount of moving to one side or the other side in the axial length direction of the bush 5, and two flexible elements 8, 8 provided between the regulating ring 6 and the first step portion 4b and the bush 5. Clearances K1, K2 are provided between the two flexible elements 8, 8 and the regulating ring 6 and the first step portion 4b. When the steering shaft 3 starts moving, the bush 5 is moved by the amount of the clearance K1 or K2, and then, one of the flexible elements 8, 8 is bent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
