<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new phosphate binder which is excellent in phosphate binding capacity per unit dosage, easy to take, has few adverse effects and is safe. <P>SOLUTION: The active ingredient of the oral phosphate binder is a polymer comprising a diamino alkanoic acid expressed by formula (I) or (II) (wherein, m is an integer of 1-3; and n is an integer) or its pharmacologically acceptable salt.
