PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor with which an arbitrary range (partial region) for reading an image can be set easily in the image forming surface of a document mounted on a document table. SOLUTION: The image processor X, such as a scanner is provided with an image reading section 12 for reading out an image formed on a document s mounted on a document table 1 from the document table 1 side (underside), a document table illuminating section 18 for illuminating the entire range of the document table 1 (the entire range on the lower surface side of the document s mounted on the document table 1), an optical object position detecting section 19 for detecting the position in the direction of document mounting surface of an object (user's fingertip, stylus pen, or the like) which can be displaced on the document table 1, and a control section for setting the image read-out range on the document table 1, based on the detected position.
