PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dial capable of suppressing unevenness in the illumination brightness, and to provide a vehicle-use meter device that uses the dial. SOLUTION: Light, emitted from a light source 5, enters a light-receiving section 21, and then advances through an optical waveguide 2 toward its edge section linearly or while being repeatedly reflected by the inner wall of the optical wave guide 2, and exits from the optical waveguide 2, while being diffused by satin-finished surfaces 2A-2C. A portion of the exit light from the optical waveguide 2 illuminates a tilt section 11 from its rear face, and another portion of the exit light illuminates a flat section 12 from its rear face. Furthermore, another portion of the exit light from the optical waveguide 2 advances toward a folding section 1E and becomes a ring-shaped light at a section with a fixed width between printed layers 11P, 12P, and the ring-shaped light exits from the driver view side of the dial 1. As a result, a novel illumination by which a three-dimensional appearance and a metallic edge appearance are made emphasized, can be realized, without having to apply special design or special printing thereto. Moreover, a portion of the optical waveguide 2 is formed so as to keep an air gap G on the rear surface side of the folding section 1E of the dial 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
