The arrangement has a transmission tunnel (1) attached to an engine compartment, and an exhaust pipe (2) of an exhaust system guided into the tunnel from the compartment. A free space (4) is formed between the pipe, an inside contour of the tunnel and a supporting frame (3). The free space is lockably formed as a passage for small animals to the engine compartment, in a proximate connection area between the compartment and the tunnel. Locking units (5) are provided to lock the free space, where locking units are geometrically adapted to the contour of the tunnel, the pipe and the frame.
