PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistance welding method where the resistance value of works sandwiched between electrodes can be correctly grasped, and optimum welding current can be obtained. SOLUTION: In the resistance welding method, a plurality of planar works W are sandwiched between a pair of electrodes 14, 15 from the front and rear, and, in a state where the works W are pressurized by these electrodes 14, 15, welding current is made to flow between the electrodes 14, 15, and the works W are welded. The method comprises: a stage of measuring offset resistance value where, under a state in which the electrodes 14, 15 are not sandwiched between the electrodes 14, 15, both the electrodes 14, 15 are directly brought into contact with each other, and the electric resistance between the electrodes 14, 15 is obtained; a stage of measuring the total resistance value upon welding where the electric resistance between the electrodes 14, 15 upon the welding of the works W is obtained; and a stage where the offset resistance value is reduced from the total resistance value upon the welding and the resistance value of the works W between the electrodes 14, 15 is obtained, so as to decide the welding current based on the resistance value of the works W.
