There is provided in accordance with the invention a feedstuff which can be soaked in liquid for a relatively short period of time in comparison to conventional feedstuff in order to make the same more acceptable for consumption by animals and livestock. The feedstuff includes a preconditioned beet component and may be provided in a pelletised form with specific shape and durability characteristics, so that the benefits of having a soakable feedstuff can therefore be achieved quickly and efficiently. This allows the feedstuff to be significantly more attractive for use than conventional soakable feedstuffs which have longer required soaking times. The beet component may be preconditioned by micronization, heat, or cabot cooking. Also disclosed are a specific pellet shape, a feedstuff which can be soaked for less than 2 hours, a method of mixing a feedstuff and a feedstuff in the form of a pellet with a durability within the range 86-96 in a Holmen test. |
