IMAGING APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and method capable of securing the brightness of a photographed image by securing outputs from an imaging device for performing logarithmic transformation at maximum in photographing using an irradiation apparatus.

SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 1 is provided with: the imaging device 5 having a plurality of pixels for performing logarithmic transformation operation; an irradiation part 10 for irradiating a subject with light; an irradiating light receiving element 13 for converting reflected light from the subject during the irradiation of the irradiation part 10 into an electric signal for measuring light quantity; an irradiation peak detection circuit 14 including a stop signal generation part 32 for generating a stop signal pulse at a point of time that the irradiation intensity of the irradiation part is maximized or in the vicinity on the basis of the electric signal for measuring the light quantity; and a timing generation part 8 for simultaneously ending the exposure of the imaging device 5 at the point of time that the irradiation intensity of the irradiation part 10 is maximized or in the vicinity about all of a plurality of pixels on the basis of the stop signal pulse.
