<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin image display device allowing data input without causing reduction in luminance or increase in product price. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device comprises a liquid crystal display panel 1 and a position information detection part 2. The liquid crystal display panel 1 includes a counter substrate 5 having a display area R1 and an data inputtable input area R2 overlapped with the display area, and an array substrate 4 arranged in opposition to the counter substrate through a space and having a display area and an input area. The position information detection part 2 includes a counter electrode 31 provided in the display area R1 and input area R2 of the inner surface side of the counter substrate 5 opposed to the array substrate 4, a plurality of protruding part 14 provided on the input area on the inner surface side of the array substrate opposed to this counter electrode, and a plurality of first electrodes 16 provided on the protruding part, respectively, and opposed to the counter electrode 31 through a space.
