<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color transflective liquid crystal display that can display at high visibility having excellent coloring both in a reflection mode and a transmission mode by suppressing deterioration in color reproducibility even in uneven spectral characteristics of illumination light. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display comprises a liquid crystal display panel having a pixel 615 comprising a plurality of sub-pixels 551 each corresponding different colors, and a lighting system. The liquid crystal display panel comprises a transflective layer and a color filter 522 of color corresponding to each of the sub-pixels 511. The transflective layer has a transparent part for transmitting the illumination light. The transparent part is formed so that the area of a light transmission region corresponding to the transparent part in at least one sub-pixel out of the plurality of the sub-pixels 511 is different from the area of the light transmission region corresponding to the transparent part in the other sub-pixels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
