PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material lifting structure which has a retractable structure, and therefore contributes to reduction of a workload in the construction field and to improved working efficiency. SOLUTION: According to the structure of a lifting unit 1, a plurality of underlying cross members 4 are arranged on vertically arranged main ropes 3, at predetermined intervals like a bamboo blind, and each main rope 3 and each underlying cross member 4 are firmly fastened together by a winding member 5 formed of a string, in a detachable manner. The main rope 3 has an almost annular connector 7 fixed thereto at a location at which the underlying cross member 4 is arranged. The winding member 5 has one end thereof engaged with the connector 7 to wind the underlying cross member 4, and the other end thereof engaged with the connector 7 to connect the underlying cross member 4 to the main rope 3.
