PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating and/or a material web. SOLUTION: This apparatus for treating and/or a material web, especially paper web or cardboard web, having a roll which has a bearing journal at one end of the roll, a frame for rotatably attaching the roll, and a hollow shaft motor inserted into the bearing journal of the roll is characterized in that the motor is connected to the roll frame through a motor-fixing means to expand the employment range of this kind of apparatus. The apparatus also relates to a method for connecting the hollowshaft-driving motor (6) to the roll (1) or changing or linking the apparatus for driving the roll (1) of the machine for the material web, especially the paper web or cardboard web.
