PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press felt for making paper capable of reducing moisture transfer toward the wet paper side (rewetting) accompanied by the pressure release of felt after nip passage. SOLUTION: The press felt 10 is constituted with a substrate 20 and a batt layer 30 wherein they are entangled by needle punching. The batt layer 30 is composed of the wet paper side layer 32, the middle layer 34, and the press side layer 36. The middle layer 34 arranged to the batt layer on the wet paper side is prepared by mixing staple fiber 50 with hollow fiber 52 or constructed with only hollow fiber 52. The hollow fiber 52 in the middle layer is flattened under the nip pressing but returns to the original shape when the nip pressing is released. Simultaneously, the moist inside the press felt 10 is absorbed from the edge part into the hollow space before the moist migrates to the wet paper thereby exhibiting the rewetting-inhibiting effect.
