PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection video display device enabling a user to know that the device is inoperative of appropriate cooling control due to the occurrence of clogging in a filter. SOLUTION: The data on the atmospheric pressure output by an atmospheric pressure sensor 47 and the data on the airflow output by an airflow sensor 49 are input to a system control circuit 40. The system control circuit 40 is equipped with a table storing section 40a. A control table is stored in the table storing section 40a. The control table comprises a positive supply voltage value to a fan power source to be set by an atmospheric pressure value and an airflow value and an alarm instruction. When the alarm instruction is selected by the atmospheric pressure value and the airflow value, the system control circuit 40 makes an LED 50 for alarm turn on to inform the user of the filter clogging and makes the lamps 1a, 1b turn off after the prescribed time.
