PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the usage amount of an ink ribbon by measuring the transfer speed of an initial position boundary line provided to the ink ribbon and sensing the width of the hue boundary line provided to the ink ribbon. SOLUTION: The image forming device includes the ink ribbon, having an ink layer formed in its translucent sheet and equipped with the initial position boundary line indicating the initial position of the ink layer for printing on a unit print medium and with the hue boundary line dividing the hues of the ink layer, and the first usage amount detection part 410 and the second usage amount detection part 420 each measuring the moving speed of the initial position boundary line to detect the usage amount of the ink ribbon.
