PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the misfire when the pressure in a combustion chamber increases in the ignition in an internal combustion engine equipped with a plurality of ignition plugs. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine is provided with a plurality of the ignition plugs in the combustion engines 1b. At least one center plug 71is arranged in the middle part 1c of the combustion chamber 1b. At least one side plug 72is arranged in a bore 1t side of the combustion chamber 1b. When the pressure in the combustion chamber 1b in the ignition exceeds a predetermined reference value by supercharging and a compression ratio adjusting mechanism, discharging from the side plug 72stops and the engine is ignited only using the center plug 71.
