A pre-paid parking control system based on driver owned, portable, reloadable parking meters. The system comprises a control center, a portable intermediate agent apparatus and a portable enforcement device. Parking time is purchased from the control center by the agent apparatus and soled to a plurality of the parking meter holders. When interrogated by the enforcement device, e.g. via Infra-Red communication, the validity of the parking is recorded and transmitted for verification to the control center. |
