The fabrication of a zirconium alloy semi-product (3), for the production of a long product, involves casting an ingot (1) of large dimensions, and then forging it in two stages. The first stage of forging is carried out at a temperature at which the zirconium alloy is in a state containing the crystalline alpha and beta phases. The second stage of forging is carried out at a temperature at which the zirconium alloy is in the alpha phase, or in the alpha and beta phases.
