PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding type rice transplanter constituted so that a machine body travels appropriately along the row of seedlings planted in a paddy surface and adjacent to the machine body, when an automatic traveling means capable of steering its front wheels automatically by using an actuator is equipped. SOLUTION: The riding type rice transplanter is equipped with a detecting means 38 for detecting the row L1 of the seedlings transplanted in the paddy surface and adjacent to the machine body by imaging the paddy surface, and a manual selecting tool 29 capable of selecting and setting an automatic traveling mode by actuating an automatic traveling means or a manual traveling mode manually steering the front wheels 1 by a steering handle. The detecting means 38 is stopped when a transplanting clutch transmitting a power to a seedling-transplanting device 5 is operated into a blocked state, and the detecting means 38 is actuated when the transplanting clutch is operated into a transmitting state.
