<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a low-cost color filter that is superior in display characteristics, capable of particularly suppressing the variations in the line width of a black image extremely low and forming the black image with high definition without using a photomask, to provide a color filter which is manufactured by the method for manufacturing color filter and is superior in display characteristics, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the color filter. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing color filter comprises a photosensitive layer-forming process of forming at least a photosensitive layer on the surface of a substrate by using a photosensitive composition, specifying the content of a colorant; an exposure process of irradiating and exposing the photosensitive layer with the light emitted from a light irradiation means from an exposure head, while modulating the light, according to pattern information by means of a light modulation means; and a developing process of developing the photosensitive layer exposed by the exposure process. The color filter is manufactured by the method for manufacturing color filter and is superior in display characteristics.
