PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting method where a modified layer having heat resistance, oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance can be extremely easily formed on the surface of a casting at a low cost even in the case of products with various shapes. SOLUTION: The casting method comprises: a first stage where at least the surface of a mold is formed with blended sand obtained by mixing recovered sand and iron oxide particles having a mean particle diameter larger than that of the recovered sand; and a second stage where molten metal is cast into the mold, so as to produce a casting.
