PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the production of a polyalkylene glycol useful for various applications by an efficient addition of an alkylene oxide to an initiator resulting in reduced content of by-products. SOLUTION: The process for production of a polyalkylene glycol by the reaction of an unsaturated initiator with an alkylene oxide, wherein a solid acid is used as a catalyst.
