PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which operational problems due to a direct printing function are solved. SOLUTION: The printer is connected to an external device and comprises a slot part, which allows a user to insert/extract a storage medium storing image data, and a control means for printing the data of the storage medium inserted into the slot part after reading them from the storage medium corresponding to the access from an operation panel and for operating and processing the data of the storage medium corresponding to the access from the external device. The control means inhibits the printer from printing the data of the storage medium by reading them from the storage medium corresponding to the access from the operation panel under the permission of a deletion of the data from the storage medium by the access from the external device.
