PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC socket having excellent space efficiency of an installation face, and allowing easy installation/uninstallation of a surface-mounting type IC by small operation force. SOLUTION: This IC socket has: a housing 14 detachably installed with the surface-mounting type IC 12, and formed such that it can be placed with the IC 12; and partition walls 22 formed in side walls of the housing 14, and formed with gaps 24 guiding a plurality of lead terminals 20. The IC socket has a plurality of abutment parts 24a positioned in the gaps 24, and formed such that the lead terminals 20 can respectively abut on them. The IC socket has a plurality of surface-mounting contacts 26 each provided such that it can pinch the lead terminal 20 together with the abutment part 24a at an application point f, and each made of electroconductive elastic body having an arm part 26b extended from the application point f. The IC socket has levers 36 slidably installed near side faces of the housing 14, pressing the arm parts 26b of the contacts 26 against elastic force to press the lead terminals 20 in the application points f of the contacts 14.
