Date Oct. 23, 1997Pulp is effectively and simply fed into a pulp tower using at least one feed pipe having a number of openings that are spaced different distances from the bottom of the pulp tower. The opening through which the pulp being fed into the tower flows automatically changes depending on the level of the existing pulp in the tower. The feed pipe may have a wide variety of different configurations with openings formed or shaped in different manners, and baffles or similar guides can be used to uniformly spread the pulp being fed through the feed pipe onto the top surface of the existing pulp without mixing. This configuration allows the amount of pulp pumping energy to be minimized while still effectively feeding pulp into a tower.</p> |
