PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repairing method of a defective EL element without using a laser irradiation unit at a low cost. SOLUTION: By measuring current voltage characteristics of an organic EL element or by grasping and comparing brightness of an emitting image of an organic EL element under a condition that a reverse voltage is impressed in every region of an EL element, a judgement is conducted whether a luminous point is existing or not and whether the organic EL element has a defective part or not, and if a defective part is found existing, the defective part of the organic EL element is repaired by applying a reverse voltage on the organic EL element for a predetermined duration of time.
