A security monitoring system using sensors and cameras and a method therefor are provided to automatically rotate and move at least one corresponding camera in upper and lower/left and right directions according to a sensing signal of each sensor and photograph an image for an area in which the motion or sound of an object is sensed by the sensors without the manual operation of a manager by installing a plurality of the sensors for security monitoring in a place or a position necessary for performing the security monitoring. Each sensor generates and outputs a corresponding sensor sensing signal when sensing the motion or sound of an object within a uniform distance while performing a certain sensing operation(S24). A sensor managing unit analyzes the sensor sensing signal inputted from the sensor, and confirms a kind of the sensor sensing signal(S25). The sensor managing unit reports information about the kind of the sensor sensing signal together with a sensor identification number including the sensing signal to a security monitoring control unit(S26). The security monitoring control unit calculates a rotary direction and a rotary angle of a camera on the basis of camera rotation control information corresponding to the kind of the sensor sensing signal and the sensor identification number and current photographing direction information of the camera which is a rotation control object(S27). A camera driving unit rotates and moves an image photographing direction of the camera according to information about the calculated rotary direction and rotary angle so that it is possible to photograph an image for an area where the motion or the sound of the object is sensed by the sensor. The security monitoring control unit collects image information photographed by the rotated and moved camera, displays the collected image information on a monitor screen for security monitoring, and simultaneously stores and manages the image information in a database(S23).
