PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bidirectional optical wiring formation method in a free space, capable of preventing optical attenuation and achieving simplification of an optical system and expansion of the flexibility of optical wiring. SOLUTION: First and second photorefractive media 1a, 1b are arranged with a space between them, and the beam fanning light 10 of first control light 2 made incident on the photorefractive medium 1a is made incident on the photorefractive media 1b via a fanning light condenser lens 11. Second control light 3 is made incident on the photorefractive medium 1b to form a diffraction grating 9b of a mutual excitated type conjugate mirror, and the diffracted light thereof is made incident on the photorefractive medium 1a to form a diffraction grating 9a of a mutual excitated type conjugate mirror. Operation for diffraction the control light beams 2, 3 by the diffraction gratings 9a, 9b formed respectively in the photorefractive media 1a, 1b and to make the same incident on the other photorefractive media 1, is repeated to guide the light propagating bidirectionally in free space, and the wiring is performed.
