PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording and reproducing apparatus capable of ensuring a recording capacity capable of recording a size of image data being a recording object on the precondition that the recording object is recordable in the case of automatically deleting an image for ensuring the recording capacity. SOLUTION: Management information used by the video recording and reproducing apparatus 1 for automatically deleting a recorded image for ensuring the recording capacity, includes various items such as items by users, recording date and time, final access date and time, number of access times, genres, and elapsed periods and a user can set priorities placed on the respective items. Further, setting conditions in matching with each item are provided.
