PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a service life of a compressor while suppressing the projection of an inner part in an uppermost part and increasing internal volume and depth of a lowermost part by placing the compressor at an upper part. SOLUTION: The compressor 52 is placed behind a top face of a storage chamber in the uppermost part which is a void space not reached even if overextends oneself, and a machine chamber fan 53 is provided to blow air to the upper part of the compressor 52 to radiate heat. This results in providing a refrigerator improved in the service life of the compressor 52 by lowering the temperature of sliding parts inside the compressor 52 and an upper plate 60 of the machine chamber cover 62, and constituting an efficient and rational exhaust heat air course of a machine chamber 51 securing safety by reducing the temperature of an outer enclosure of the refrigerator.
