<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of breakage of an electrolyte membrane and a short circuit between an anode and a cathode in time of production. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell has: the electrolyte membrane 11 having ionic conductivity; catalyst layers 12 on the anode side and the cathode side each having outer size smaller than outer size of the electrolyte membrane 11, and contacting with both the faces of the electrolyte membrane 11; adhesive layers 13 formed in end parts of the electrolyte membrane 11 and the catalyst layers 12; a pair of spacer layers 14 connected to both the faces of the adhesive layers 13, having electric insulation; gas diffusion layers 15 formed on surfaces of the catalyst layers 12 and the spacer layers 14; and impregnated parts 16 formed by impregnating a sealing material into peripheral parts of the gas diffusion layers 15. The spacer layer 14 extends to the inner side in the in-interface direction of an interface position between the gas diffusion layer 15 and the impregnated part 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
