PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which has excellent hardness, processability, wet performance and frictional force on ice. SOLUTION: This rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a dienic rubber containing≥25% of natural rubber and having an average Tg of≤-50°C, 10 to 60 pts.wt. of silica (if necessary, wollastonite in an amount of 1 to 45% based on the silica), carbon black in a total amount of 55 to 75 pts.wt. together with the silica (or a total amount of 55 to 50 pts.wt. further together with the wollastonite), a sulfur-containing silane coupling agent in an amount of 3 to 15 wt.% based on the silica, a process oil in a total amount of 12 to 50 pts.wt. (in a total amount of 8 to 60 pts.wt., when compounded with the wollastonite), sulfur in a total amount of 1.8 to 2.6 pts.wt., and an expanding agent (foaming agent, a foaming agent-containing resin, thermally expandable microcapsules and/or exfoliated graphite) in such an amount as giving a vulcanized rubber volume expansion coefficient of 8 to 30%, and a studless tire using the rubber composition.
