<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a green pigment composition for a color filter capable of realizing a higher contrast of green pixel portions of a color filter, and a color filter exhibiting a high contrast in green pixel portions. <P>SOLUTION: The green pigment composition for a color filter is obtained by surface-treating a copper halide phthalocyanine pigment whose primary particles have an average particle diameter of 0.01-0.1μm and an aspect ratio of 1-3 with a phosphoric ester surfactant. The green pigment composition for a color filter is obtained preferably by drying an aqueous dispersion, by heating, prepared by dispersing the copper halide phthalocyanine pigment in an aqueous medium comprising the phosphoric ester surfactant and water.
