PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display method of sufficiently suppressing linear tailing as a method of processing a video signal without changing constituent materials nor production stage conditions of a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: An arithmetic section 11 computes a movement quantity between images of an input video signal and an input video signal delayed by one frame in a frame memory 12 and when the computed movement quantity exceeds a predefined quantity, the input video signal is subjected to image processing (gray scale conversion processing) for gradating the image so that a boundary part of the image where linear tailing is caused is smoothly changed from its original gray scale to the gray scale close to that of a peripheral region of the image. The video signal subjected to the image processing is supplied to the liquid crystal display element 14 through a liquid crystal driving circuit 13 to display an image. Consequently, the image has nearly the same gray scale as that of the peripheral region at the boundary part of the image where the linear tailing is caused, so the generation of the linear tailing can be suppressed.
