摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction air amount estimating device for an internal combustion engine which can estimate an amount of suction air precisely irrespective of the temperature condition of the internal combustion engine (that is, the engine temperature), the internal combustion engine being capable of changing valve characteristics of opening/closing of an intake valve. SOLUTION: The suction air amount estimating device for the internal combustion engine estimates a basic amount Mcb of air filling a cylinder which is an amount of air filling the cylinder when the engine is at a specific temperature, and compensates the basic amount Mcb of air filling the cylinder from the engine temperature (or the cooling water temperature Tw of the engine), the engine speed Ne, the switching timing Vt of the intake valve, the pressure Pme in an intake pipe when an exhaust valve is closed, and the operating angle Sa or the lift amount of the intake valve, thereby calculating an amount Mc of air filling the cylinder.
