<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for generating a contrast correction characteristic (e.g., contract correction straight line) capable of performing appropriate contrast correction even to underscene or overscene. <P>SOLUTION: The module for generating a contract correction characteristic comprises a luminance data calculation part 41 for calculating a density value of image data from a luminance value; a correlation characteristic analysis part 42 for calculating a first correction characteristic showing the correlation between density value and luminance value of a predetermined color (green) of the image data over a plurality of areas including at least an intermediate area; and a correction characteristic generation part 44 for generating a second correction characteristic by correcting the part of the intermediate area of the first correction characteristic to match with a preliminarily given basic characteristic and correcting the remaining part of the first correction characteristic based on the correction of the intermediate area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
